Helping the leading one-day fundraising program crush their goals with inspired branding & campaign tools.

Columbia University has one of the leading one-day fundraising events among U.S. universities. We were asked to create their 2016 Giving Day campaign, and raise the bar for university fundraising, once again.

We set out to refresh the Giving Day logo and brand and create an engaging and functional donation portal for Columbia, using the existing web framework. And then there’s that pesky business about exceeding last year’s lofty goals. Who’s up for a challenge?

We started with making donating simple and reminding donors why they loved Columbia University. We were inspired by the iconic NYC subway mosaics for the logo design and pushed the site UX beyond the template. The mosaic treatment looked great and provided a campaign design system for consistency and flexibility. Design nirvana!

24 hours of fundraising, fun, and engagement = another record-setting year.

Engagement was up, energy was high, stencil chalk art of the brand around campus looked amazing. And then there was that little part about Columbia hitting their numbers for both participation and donations. That’s a double win!
